1. Product Introduction
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC)
CAS NO. 9004-32-4
Molecular Formula: C6H14O2
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) other names sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose; carmellose; E466; is white almost odourless hygroscopic granules, powder or fine fibres. Degree of substitution is an important factor influencing water solubility and the viscosity of Sodium carboxymethylcellulose also has a great effect on the water solubility. When viscosity is within 25-50Pa•s and the degree of substitution is about 0.3, it shows alkaline solubility and while the degree of substitution is over 0.4, it shows water solubility. With the rise of DS, the transparency of solution improves accordingly.

3. Product application
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) has a large application in food, textile and printing & dyeing, build painting, ceramic, papermaking and mosquito coils and welding electrode industry, etc.
CMC is used in most of the compositions of cement and building materials because it acts as a stabilizer and hydrophilic agent.
CMC is used in most of the compositions of cement and building materials because it acts as a stabilizer and hydrophilic agent.
Technical grade CMC compositions are most often used for soaps and detergents for the detergent industry.
CMC acts as a suspending agent in pesticides and water-based sprays.
CMC is added to various compositions of glues and adhesives that are used for almost any material.
CMC is used in oil paints and varnishes. It acts as a thickener and suspends the pigment in the fluid.
Crude or purified CMC is used in drilling sludge as a colloid thickener and is applied when removing the drill from the hole to avoid sediments.
